Another Saturday and again great conditions on the hill. Even though it had been over a week since any significant snowfall, we still managed to find some get off-piste conditions. The snow pack as a little wind blown and created a thin layer of windslab but it was still great to ride. A couple of good friends of RTM Snowboarding, AK and Addy, were visiting for a couple of days so we took them out for a ride.

We started our session by riding to the top of the Pyramid drag lift in Courchevel 1650 then dropped down into Vallee des Avals. There was only a handful of tracks leading into the valley so we were lucky to drop in early. We only saw only a couple of skiers all morning, the joys of the backcountry! The hike out took a while but the scenery was epic and it was so peaceful and quiet.

We followed that up with a short hike up from the Chanrossa Col to the Equinox face. A steep North face that overlooks Courchevel 1650. We were only the second people up that day, with the first just in front of us. There was plenty of snow and a great descent. Again the snow was a little wind-blown so a little firm but it was still great to ride.

After a poor start to the season the snow is now good. February half term is almost upon us and should be a good one. If you’re visiting Courchevel, Meribel or La Tania then drop us a line to find out about our wide-range of lessons, from beginner snowboard lessons, right through to off-piste and freestyle instruction.
