If you visit Courchevel with children then visiting the Piste des Indians in Courchevel 1650 is a must.
As long as the kids can snowboard on blue runs then you’ll have no problem visiting the Indian reservation in Courchevel 1650. If you kids can only ride greens then book them in for some children’s snowboard lessons with us. We will help build their confidence and improve their technique so they can visit the indians!
The Piste des Indians is marked on the Courchevel piste map and starts at the bottom of the Signal chairlift in Courchevel 1650. At the start of the run, and all along the route, there are information posters that tell you about the life of Native Americans. Halfway down the piste is an Indian reservation, complete with tepees, animals and many Indian artefacts. The reservation is home to Grey Wolf. You can stop for hot chocolate, face painting, Indian stories, photos and bow-hunting.
The run weaves it’s way down through a natural valley, the start of the run is the steepest part, but it’s only a blue run so don’t worry. The rest of the piste is wide and open and has a natural flow to it. Once you reach the reservation the run does go quite flat. This isn’t ideal for beginner/intermediate snowboarders but it is downhill all the way. The end of Indians joins one of the lower pistes of Courchevel 1650 and you end up down at the bottom of the Ariondaz gondola. The route over to 1650 from Courchevel 1850 can be a little tricky so there is always the alternative of getting the bus to and from Courchevel 1650 if you didn’t fancy the ride over or back at the end of the day!
Courchevel 1650 is also a great place to ride. With natural half pipes, a mini fun park and plenty of quiet blue runs. It is regarded as possibly the quietest area in the 3 Valleys. So if you want to get away from the crowds then definitely check it out.
